| St
Aldhelm's Chapel is situated on the Dorset Coast path about 8 miles from
Swanage and is a viewpoint on one of our favourite Dorset Walks. It is believed to date from the 12th century and that it was a chantry where a priest would celebrate mass for the safety of sailors. It may also rest on an earlier timber building within an enclosure. An interesting leaflet is available within the chapel. Anyway there is a delightful 4 mile round walk from Worth Matravers which is detailed on the map. It follows a valley to Winspit Point, then along the coast to St Aldhelm's Head before turning back inland |
