Culross
is an historic village on the north side of the Firth of Forth
dating back to the 16th century.
The 'jewell in the crown' however is Culross Palace but do not think of
it as a palace in conventional terms. Rather it is one of the most
fascinating merchants houses you will ever visit. The interior is built
rather like a ship and was probably built by tradesmen who built boats -
the 'painted chamber' is just wonderful with its 'half barrel shape and
painted panels. Take time to wander around the restored
garden. |
