| This
amazing engineering sight is on the Kennet and Avon Canal near to
Devizes. The canal which connects Bristol to London encountered a
steep hill of 240 feet when it was built around 200 years ago. So
they built 16 locks to solve the problem. Today the locks are used by holiday and privately owned narrowboats, the short trip taking hours to achieve. One of our favourite walks with plenty going on and lots to see. About 25 minutes walk from town centre or car park which is closer signposted on Devizes Melksham Road.
