Avebury - ancient standing stones
This impressive stone circle at Avebury covers a much larger area than Stonehenge and whist the stones are smaller I believe the sight is more impressive.
You can get right up to the ancient stones and touch them if you wish. This is one of the most important megalithic monuments in England.
Take time to visit the charming historic Manor House and lovely gardens.
There is also a visitor centre with historic displays and cafe.
